THE FIRST IMAGE WAS TAKEN NEAR PARKERSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA THIS PAST SATURDAY. THE SECOND IMAGE WAS TAKEN ACROSS THE RIVER IN MARIETTA, OHIO. IN SOME PLACES SATURDAY NIGHT THE OHIO RIVER CRESTED SIX FEET ABOVE FLOOD STAGE.

I am most glad I do NOT live near that river no matter how beautiful it may be...

Gosh, that's some flood, I hope nobody was injured in it.
The "bike route" sign really brings it home how high it went, doesn't it?
great capture, Carletta!

Oh, my! That is some serious flooding! It looks great, but you have to think of all the lives it is affecting, and the farmlands and buildings that are being destroyed! Great photos, though...

I live near a river, but not where flooding is a danger....I cannot imagine living where it is a worry.

I guess there won't be many bikers along the bike route for a while. I hope no one is in danger because of the flooding.

Great pictures of the water forces, thinking of the people in Japan!

Not a tsunami?

I grew up in Borneo, every Dec, it flood to our thighs. As kids, we thought it was fun, swan in the water until you see the dead animals floating.

Wow, the water is really high. We occasionally get flooding here, in the spring from the runoff of melting snow, combined with lots of rain. I guess time will tell for us!

Assez terrifiant quand même. Est-ce habituel ?

Feel sorry for the people who live in the flooded areas!

Oh gosh Carletta -- that is definitely a WATERY day! I'd kind of forgotten the closer bad weather news in being riveted to the reporting on Japan's tragedy. (I guess the news channels have forgotten it too.) so much frightening bad weather news.

Oh my goodness- this took my breath. I have such great respect for water & all it can do. WOW

I continue to hope that you are well and not personally affected by the floods -- and that, actually, nobody is!

Carletta, I have tried to e-mail you to answer a question you left on FT-L, but they keep bouncing back.

Can you send me a private e-mail? So that I don't clutter up your blog comments with something that is irrelevant to it?. Sallie at FullTime-Life dot com

Nice and "dramatic" picture, which well describes the strength of water.

I come to this a bit late. I hope the waters are subsiding and recovery has started.

I found the flag waving from the cabin very moving. It was like a sign of hope.
