WHILE BROWSING LAST WEEKS SKYWATCH A STORM BREWED OUTSIDE MY WINDOW. AS THE RAIN STOPPED THE SKY WAS STILL VERY DARK WHEN I NOTICED THE SUN BEGINNING TO SHINE ON THE TREETOPS SO I GRABBED MY CAMERA AND HEADED OUTSIDE. I GOT THREE OR FOUR PICTURES BEFORE THE RAINBOW FADED. IT WASN’T UNTIL I HAD DOWNLOADED THE IMAGES THAT I SAW THE SECOND RAINBOW.

Carletta, in fact I see a faint rainbow over the main one. Nice countryside, a very enjoyable picture!

I see.

I've had occasion to see many double rainbows over the little sound. They are very pretty.

Good timing Carletta! One is exciting to view but two!! A God send! :)

BEAUTIFUL!

I felt like I was looking at one of those magic eye posters - the kind where there is a hidden picture, but you have to refocus your eyes in just the right way. ;)

It took me a bit to find the second rainbow, but I see it now.

What a gorgeous sight!

It happened to me once. I notised the second one when I loaded the pictures on the screen. I learned thet the purple space between the main and the secondary rainbows is called Alexander's band. Such a beauty - and you captured it beautifully!

Is there anything so beautiful as a double rainbow? Wonderful capture.

What a beautiful double rainbow - great capture! It always amazes me how much lighter the sky/clouds are under the rainbow compared with above. Makes a dramatic visual effect.
