Begun in 1899, this is our local county courthouse. The building is of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture featuring stilted arches and elaborate stone carvings. It was completed at a cost of $100,000. Imagine that! I duplicated the layer of the image, changed it to sepia, and then erased the sepia from the rooftop. Even though the building is a sandstone color to start with I think the sepia gave it a softer and richer look.
The red slate roof stands out so well. The sepia toned the look of the building down, and is in character for this building. The roof thus is a great focal point of this fine old structure...
What a grand looking place! I like the sepia tones and the red roof makes it really interesting looking. Good job!
Softer and richer look indeed. Best wishes :)
It's great Carletta, the two-tone is fabulous.
sepia with a touch of red, very nice!
That's beautiful, Carletta. Very rich colors.
I just had to smile. You are a little girl with a high tech box of crayons, and your coloring is lovely.
hat an exceptional building and the composition with the colours is excellent. Enjoyable.
Eh, not hat but What should be the first word.
Looks like a church to me. Whereever this place is, it's a beautiful piece of architecural :)
Very powerful effect; well-done.
Amazing work in those old buildings, even the type of day "overcast" adds to the effect of the shot. Great picture...
Carletta, nice contrast.
I didn't signed in Mr. Link 'cause I don't know how...
Thanks for your visit
What you have done to this is excellent.... that roof is awesome... as I am sure is the whole building and the history it holds.
Carletta, the is a delightful blog... it is my first visit but it will not be my last... I will link back here from 'Wiggers World' so as not to forget.. :O)
I wish you well with this New Venture
Not sure who's this quote is...
"Belief in oneself is one of the most important bricks in building any successful venture.”
Red and sepia in one picture, very special, great effect.
the clarity of that photo is stunning.......

That red roof is so pretty with the sepia coloring of the "castle." It looks like a castle to me, anyway. :-)
I love buildings that were built around the end of the 19th century. We have some gorgeous architecture in Connecticut in the older cities and towns. I need to photograph more of them!
Gorgeous shot! Love the way this was processed.
What a beautiful composition, and the sepia tone gives it a classic look, contrasted with the red roof.
Dial 1-800-SEPIA for reservations!
This almost looks like a (really really big) gingerbread house with the richness in the toning.
What an impressive building. Beautiful reddish roof.
Excellent processing Carletta - love what you've done to this.
