Begun in 1899, this is our local county courthouse. The building is of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture featuring stilted arches and elaborate stone carvings. It was completed at a cost of $100,000. Imagine that! I duplicated the layer of the image, changed it to sepia, and then erased the sepia from the rooftop. Even though the building is a sandstone color to start with I think the sepia gave it a softer and richer look.
The red slate roof stands out so well. The sepia toned the look of the building down, and is in character for this building. The roof thus is a great focal point of this fine old structure...
What a grand looking place! I like the sepia tones and the red roof makes it really interesting looking. Good job!

What you have done to this is excellent.... that roof is awesome... as I am sure is the whole building and the history it holds.

That red roof is so pretty with the sepia coloring of the "castle." It looks like a castle to me, anyway. :-)
I love buildings that were built around the end of the 19th century. We have some gorgeous architecture in Connecticut in the older cities and towns. I need to photograph more of them!
