THIS WAS TAKEN AT FORT BOREMAN WHICH WAS THE SITE OF A CIVIL WAR FORT OVERLOOKING NEARBY PARKERSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA. THE FORT WAS BUILT BY UNION TROOPS TO PROTECT THE B&O RAILROAD TERMINAL AND KEY COMMERCIAL RIVER FACILITIES. TROOPS WITH THE 11TH WEST VIRGINIA INFANTRY MANNED THE FORT DURING THE CIVIL WAR. THE HILL IS LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTRY OF HISTORIC PLACES.

I TOOK THIS A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO IN BETWEEN SNOW STORMS. IT WAS NEAR SUNSET AND I LIKED THE WAY THE SUN REFLECTED OFF THE FLAGS AND THE CANON. TODAY IT IS POURING SNOW AND WE EXPECT BETWEEN 5-10 INCHES!

I feel so for all you and all that damn snow back east. Enough already! Carletta I love this photo. The way the flags looks is outstanding. It's like that sun makes them just more beautiful than they already are. It's magical :)

I love the lighting in this photo, directly hitting the cannon and indirectly lending late-afternoon atmosphere to the scene.

Sorry you are getting so much snow today!
