MY HUBS FOUND THIS MOTH ONE MORNING ABOVE OUR GARAGE DOOR. I BELIEVE IT IS A CECROPIA MOTH AND THE LARGEST MOTH FOUND IN NORTH AMERICA. IF IT ISN'T I HOPE SOMEONE WILL LET ME KNOW. :)

Wonderful shot. Kudos to your husband for pointing him out to you! ;-)
That is one war torn critter. Hope it found it's mate during its short life.
Carletta, I believe your ID is correct. And though his wings are a bit tattered, he sure is beautiful.
certainly uniquely beautiful
Wow! Nice shot!
I played too :)
Carletta, that certainly is a well worn coat.
WOW! Wonderful shot.
Is he ragged because he's getting old or has he always been ragged? Such a short life!

Nice moth. Most of the wings on honey bees are like this as are they on bumblebees and butterflies. I think it is a harzard like shoes wear out when walking. So the insect with the tattered wings has done a lot of walking.
