isn't he just gorgeous?
I love his little (but strong!) feet and the black and white pattern on his coat.
So nice that you were able to capture both the male and female, they are beautiful!
They are indeed beautiful! The ruby headdress is stunning, the expression proud. They look so good that any incessant tapping can be ignored...so nice!

What a pretty bird! And beautifully photographed! We don't see woodpeckers in my area.
Beautiful bird and what great shots of it!
They are just beautiful and your photos are perfect. Our woodpecker alarm clock keeps flying away before I can get a picture (yours is better anyway)!
What a wonderful yard bird! But you may say the same about parrots in my yard!

A lovely critter!
Just wonderful!
Carletta, my husband is from Chesapeake. He actually was born in Norfolk General because Chesapeake was Norfolk Co. then. He graduated from the first grad class of Indian River HS in 1969. We have lived in Chesapeake both when we first married and later when our daughter was in middle school, Jr. High and early HS. It has changed so much over the years but it was "home base" for us for a long time. I can't believe you were there as well!
Beauty!
WOW! Gorgeous bird. I missed so many bloggers posts in March & April... sorry I haven't visited for a while (we had a very close friends son die - he was like a son to me. I didn't blog much.)
