Dogwoods of May

"To see a hillside white with dogwood bloom is to know a particular ecstasy of beauty, but to walk the gray winter woods and find the buds which will resurrect that beauty in another May is to partake of continuity." ~Hal Borland

Oh, how lovely - especially now in the midst of winter.

I really like that you selected a single petal as a focal point for this shot, the photo is gorgeous. And that quote is so true.

Re my photo today. No texture was added. I cropped out a very small section of the photo which increase the visibility of the pixels and gives the impression of texture. It is something I have been playing around with.

I know - it is so hard every winter, but every spring, the flowers come again!! I wonder how people managed before photo archives?

Beautiful shot, and a welcome sight in the long winter.

Just beautiful, Carletta!

It's gray and dreary here today. I love looking at the cheery dogwood blooms. I agree with the others who liked the focus on the single petal here. Creative!

If we didn't live in a four season climate, we would not be able to appreciate the Spring growth, the new life that is not available under the frost and snow. I await the flora of May!

Gemma Wiseman said...

So softly romantic with a touch of misty enchantment! Lovely!

"Came to witness spring's new hope, born of leaves decaying."
Such wonderful promises in your flower picture.
I thank you for a pre-spring experience.

Are you trying to rush spring? I thought you like snow and winter. :) :) That is very beautiful. I'll be glad when I can take another picture like that one.

Beautiful Carletta -- They grow well in Oregon in the summer, so that's one of our old favorite flowering trees that we still we get to see. (We miss the Spring flowers.)

How lovely, the yellow petals with the tinge of red, and the shallow depth of field is perfect for emphasizing that little bit of color too.

Another exquisite photo--dogwoods are so beautiful. I'm wishing it was May instead of January right now because there is just nothing "bright and beautiful" to photograph. A lovely snowfall would change all that---let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Mickie :)

Beautiful! I am so looking forward to spring!

Simply lovely. I too look forward to the arrival of spring.

I am about ready to see some....if we aren't going to get a good snow, then bring on spring!
