IT WASN'T UNTIL I HAD DOWNLOADED MY PHOTOS THAT I SAW THE FAMILY CEMETARY TO THE LEFT OF THE BARN AGAINST THE HILLSIDE.

Hi Carletta!
I like this a lot. I first saw the red roof (of course!) and I thought, they've got snow, too. But your title said horses and cemeteries, so I looked again and saw the horses. The cemetery eluded me until after I read your comment. Sometimes the best things aren't noticed at first...

I hope the new year is treating you well so far!

I see it, Carletta. Perfect shot of a barn and it's little bit of RED. The accompanying music is very poignant...

Beautiful picture Carletta -- we were interested in the number of small family cemeteries we saw on our summer trip -- family ones out on farms like this and also churchyard ones. It was something new for us to see those and we thought a lovely way to preserve family history.

Hi Carletta! Beautiful splash of ruby in this photo. Love the cemetery, too, and that you didn't even notice it. Love the icicle shot in the photo below, too.

Hi,
Quite often I will download my photos and find something totally new to me. That being said I do love this photo...is it a horse barn? I wondered with all those openings.

About my barn photo, being close to the road. At one time this road was a two lane road so it was probably farther off the road when it was built.

and on mine I cannot help but wonder what was done in the barn with all those windows up above.

I really like this picture. The setting reminds me of some of our 'hollers' here in Tennessee. I wouldn't have noticed the cemetery if you hadn't said something about it.

Imagine that - one's own family cemetery. Somehow I imagine there may some small stones for little children, something heard to bear.

The red roof captures your eye. No wonder you originally missed the cemetary!

a perfect colour roof for the snow!

beautiful shot of the barn. the red spot contrasts well with the snowy landscape.

The red roof pops against the snow but I'd never have noticed that cemetary if you hadn't pointed it out. NH, where my parents live, has a lot of those tiny little cemetaries scattered around as well. I keep meaning to photograph some of the really old ones.

Beautiful snowy capture. Therer are several family cemetaries on farms out this way. I love them. Some are so old that the families living on the farms now are not related to the persons in the ground but lovingly care for them anyway. I know I would. MB

I love how you captured the whole scene from the hillside. It's just lovely.

Nice shot, Carletta! This is an unusual looking barn with all those little windows, and the gold and red also. It stands out nicely against the snow. I almost missed that little cemetery too.

There are so many of those old family cemeteries in Ontario! I imagine in other places, as well. This shot really sums up winter in this part of the world!

A lovely clear shot Carletta.
There's the odd cemetery out here too on farms handed down through the generations - many times favorite animals are buried there as well.

A beautiful winter picture of this barn and silo. I like how you included the general setting around the barnyard. Very nice picture.

I can see how you missed the cemetary, it is well hidden in the trees. Great wintery shot Carletta.
