Oh! yes Carletta, that's exactly what it is. I like the title you chose.
In a few days, maybe tomorrow, you'll get a Red fluffy pompom !

I have not see this flower, but the pistils look like the Diamond kitchen matches we light candles and charcoal with. A dramatic flower, and I trust a pollen magnet for the honeybees in the area...

They do indeed look like old-fashioned kitchen matches. Neat shot!

Well shot.
These flowerbuds look exactly like the matchsticks I'm still using.
Maybe you'll take a new picture when they're sprung.

That's neat Carletta!

Lovely. I think they are a bit more of a magenta than the bright red of a matchstick. Such beauty on a stem. I feel like I could squeeze the buds.

Fantastic Carletta, this close-up is stunning. I also want to thank you for your nice comments about becoming a team member on Today's Flowers. Now that I am one of the gang so to speak, I wondered if you would consider sending us some photos and being a "Guest Friend", unless you have been asked already? I need to check our list before mentioning it I suppose but as I am here now I thought I would ask. Would you please consider it and let me know? My e-mail is: luvinwildlife@gmail.com

Thanks again.

It does look like matchsticks...

I hadn't thought of it before, but they do look like the heads of the match sticks Mom and Dad used to light their old gas stove.
